Materials: 1 ball Bernat Handicrafter Solid Red (B), 1 ball Bernat Handicrafter White Tinsel (Silver) (A) , Or any 2 colors of your choice.
Size 4m needles.
Size 4 m crochet hook for edging
Note: Slip al stitches as if to purl.
This cloth is made with a crochet edging. If you would prefer a knit border, cast on an extra 6 or 8 stitches to make a 3 or 4 stitch border on each side of the cloth. Knit these stitches in garter stitch, they are not included in the body of the pattern description below. Also for the knit border after castitng on knit 4 rows of garter stitch and after finishing to desired length add 4 rows of garter stitch to finish the border.
Directions:
Using color A cast on 38 stitches or a multiple or 6 + 2 (then add the border stitches if not using a crochet edge.)
Foundation Row: (wrong side) Using A purl.
Pattern:
Row 1: Using B k4, sl 1, k1, sl 1, *k3, sl 1, k1, sl 1; repeat from * to last stitch, k1
Row 2: Using B (p1, sl 1) twice, *p3, sl 1, p1, sl 1; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, p4.
Row 3: Using A (k1, sl 1) twice, *k3, sl 1, k1, sl 1; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, k4.
Row 4: Using A p4, sl 1, p1, sl 1, * p3, sl 1, p1, sl 1; repeat from * to last stitches, p1.
Row 5: Using B k2, * sl 1, k3, sl 1, k1; repeat from * to end.
Row 6: Using B *p1, sl 1, p3, sl 1; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, p2.
Row 7: Using A *k3, sl 1, k1, sl 1; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2.
Row 8: Using A p2, *sl 1, p1, sl 1, p3; repeat from * to end.
Row 9: Using B k2, *sl 1, k1, sl 1, k3; repeat from * to end.
Row 10: Using B *p3, sl 1, p1, sl 1; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, p2.
Row 11: Using A *k1, sl 1, k3, sl 1; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2.
Row 12: Using A p2, *sl 1, p3, sl 1, p1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat thses 12 rows until desired length is reached.

If you are using the garter stitch border this is where you would knit the next 4 rows then cast off and tie in your ends.

For the Crochet Edge cast off, but Do Not Cut Yarn
Rnd 1: Using A, sc evenly around entire cloth. Join with a sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as sl st, *ch3 skip 1 sc, sc in next st; repeat from * to end. Join with ss in 1st sc.
Rnd 3: *sc, hdc, dc, sc (cluster made) in first space, sl st in next sp; repeat from * around. When you rech the corner space add 2 extra dc to the cluster to make a smooth corner. Join with a ss in 1st sc.
Finish off and tie in ends.
