Nina's Seed Stitch Surprise

Materials: 1 ball Sugar & Cream or equivalent, #7 to #10 (US) needles, depending on how tight or loose you knit.
Rating: Easy - Medium ( Requires some concentration)

Directions: Cast on 41 stitches.
Knit 3 rows of seed stitch for top border
Keeping 3 stitches on each side for border in seed stitch, start pattern (Multiples of 10 + 5)
Rows 1, 3 & 5: (wrong side) Purl 5, *(K1, P1) twice, K1, P5, repeat from * across. (Don't forget the 3 border stitches on each side.)
Rows 2 & 4: K5, *(K1, P1) twice, K6, repeat from * across.
Rows 6, 8 & 10: (P1, K1) twice, P1, *K5, (P1, K1) twice, P1, repeat from * across.
Rows 7 & 9: (P1, K1) twice, P1, *P5, (P1, K1) twice, P1, repeat from * across.

Work until desired length ( about 5 repeats) ending with row 10.
Work 3 rows seed stitch. Bind off in seed stitch.
The surprise is in the auxiliary pattern which forms, although you expect to have blocks of seed stitch alternating with stockinette stitch.
