| Here is a pattern for a Papaghan sent to me by Nancy Duff. Materials: 56 ozs worsted weight yarn, size N crichet hook. Chain 80, with double yarn Work in half double crochet for 100 rows. Edge in reverse sc or a shell stitch. This is what everyone on the list is calling the 7-8 hour afghan - however, the original pattern was worked on a q hook with 4 strands of yarn - I started making this afghan last year when my dad was ill and dying - he loved them - and I named them papaghans in his memory - this is the pattern that I made up over a year ago and am happy to share it - it is a lovely warm afghan and I have made at least 30 of them - It lends itself well to scraps of yarn - or if you do a solid and varigated it produces a lovely tweed effect - I do a lot with three colors - and do 10 rows of each color 3 times and end with 10 rows of the color that I began with. |
