Tweed Stitch (1 color) Dishcloth

Tweed Stitch (1 color) Dishcloth

Designer: Laura Tejada
This pattern is taken from The Harmony Guide to Knitting Stitches, page 43.
Materials: Dishcloth cotton and your preferred needle size

Difficulty: Easy

Note: I have made a "minor adaptation" to the directions of Row 3 to reflect how the cloth was actually knit. In other words, I didn't follow directions, repeated the mistake, and am now calling it a design element, a la Elizabeth Zimmerman!

Pattern Stitch:
Row 1: (Right Side) K1, *yf, sl1, yb, k1*; repeat between *'s to end.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: *yf, sl1, yb, k1*, repeat between *'s to end
Row 4: Purl

Repeat these 4 rows for pattern

Directions:
Cast on 36 stitches. The pattern is a multiple of 2+1+border stitches(6).
Rows 1 - 6: Knit
Row 7: (wrong side) K3, place marker (pm), purl 30, pm, K3.
Row 8: Begin pattern: K3, work Row 1 of pattern stitch, K3.
Row 9: K3, purl 30, K3.

Leaving 3 stitches at beginning and end of each row in garter stitch, work in pattern until cloth is the desired length, ending pattern row 4. Knit 7 rows.
Bind off.
