Materials: 2.5 oz. t ply worsted weight cotton yarn, size 7 needles, size 3 double-pointed needles.

Size: Approximately 6 inches square.

Directions: Cast on 52 sts as tightly as possible.

Note:F1 means to bring the yarn forward for the next stitch.

Rows 1 and 2: * K1, yarn forward, slip 1 st as if to purl, F1, slip 1 as if to purl, yarn back.* Repeat from * to * across the row.
Rows 3 and 4: *F1, slip 1 as if to purl, yarn back, K1, yarn forward, slip 1 as if to purl.* Repeat from * to * across the row.

Repeat these 4 rows until the piece is a square. Bind off , working 2 sts together each time instead of only one, until 2 stitches remain on the needle. Place these 2 stitches on a double-pointed needle.

Loop
*Knit 2. Do not turn. Slide the stitches to the other end of the double-pointed needle.* Repeat from * to * until the loop measures approximately 3 inches.

Note: This makes a lovely double thick potholder.
